Welcome, Parents.

I was thrilled to hear today that one parent at least had made this blog the home page on the home computer. I imagine that over the next few weeks more and more parents will find their way here as they try to do what they can to help their students at home.

Preparedness still seems to be an issue for a few students. I often use the analogy of a construction site--if I showed up without any tools to work on a job, I would be of little use to the supervisor or my fellow workers. Likewise, students who show up without their tools (a 3-ring binder, lined paper and a writing utensil) can accomplish very little in terms of learning or making a passing grade.

I would encourage any parent who would like to be able to post comments or ask questions to email: ewcwriter@live.ca. Let me know who your student is and I'll add you as an author to this blog so that you can post as well.

Regards,

Mr. P

Week 2

Wow,

It's hard to believe that we are about halfway through our second week of class already. I feel like I'm really starting to get a read on everyone's individual learning styles. The period 2 class, in particular, has shown some growth already. Keep it up. Class may seem long at times, but believe me when I say that January and exams are just around the corner. The pattern you settle into now will help you to either have a superb semester or cause you some headaches down the road.

I am still optimistic that more of you will find your way here. It seems to me that some of you might spend more time discussing the course here than you are able to in class.

Be sure to keep checking the Course Calendar. I try to keep updating it regularly.

Please, ask questions, make comments or just say hi to let me know that you've been here. If you can't leave a comment because you haven't been invited to join the blog, then just email ewcwriter@live.ca and ask to be added to the 2p blog. I'll do it. Parents are welcome too.

Regards,

Mr. P.

Welcome!

You made it!

This blog should help us to do a number of things:

1) Keep us organised-- check often to make sure that your student agenda is up to date. I will
put important dates on the course calendar.

2) Keep us informed-- most of the course's handouts and resources will be available here. If you are absent or lose a document you can get another copy here.

3) Increase class participation-- in my experience, usually only a few students and the teacher do most of the talking. This is a place where everyone can ask and answer questions or make comments about anything course related.

To get started: email ewcwriter@live.ca --I will add you as an author for the blog so that you can create your own posts. Please include your full name in your email so I know who everyone is. You may want to consider creating a new email address for academic purposes.

I look forward to working with you all!

Mr. Pierce
